GiraGlobDesign
The GiraGlob ® is made from rotationally moulded high-density copolymer (HDPE) with the human form as its principle source of proportions. A turning mechanism allows 360 degrees’ rotation by either turning the dial in the center of the GiraGlob Table ® or simply pushing the GiraGlob Shell ® from the outside. This enables users to change direction, frame views and take cover from the elements, whilst the table stays static.
Designed by the art & design collective Lgop, the GiraGlob ® is an internationally registered design.
The GiraGlob Shell is a twice-truncated hollow sphere cut horizontally to form the floor base and cut at 28 degrees to create the opening. The full sphere is 2.6 m in diameter, 13 mm in wall thickness, stands 2.475 m high & weighs 350 kg. The GiraGlob Table is reinforced & fitted with a compressed Laminate top for extra robustness. The turning mechanism is specifically design and engineered for the GiraGlob to turn slowly without gaining momentum or speed.
The GiraGlob has a 50-year life span after which it provides an eco-friendly material that can be recycled up to 10 times for future needs. (Water tanks, pipes, cables etc)
Produced from the monomer ethylene, a natural occurring gas, HDPE is without any negative effect to humans and the environment. GiraGlob colours have excellent UV resistance.
